Creates a comma delimited text export file or datasheet, that can be used for further analysis or to update your central college database, with total support cost information for the ILR L31 ALS cost for each student.
Click the menu item 5) Print, Analyse, Evaluate and Export Options > View & Export ILR Support Costs (Act & Est)
SpirALS uses the support cost items entered and recalculates all actual and estimated tariff bands, audit thresholds, total net cost and other information for all students on the database. The system displays a status message whilst it recalculates which can take between 2 seconds and 20 minutes. The actual amount of time this takes can vary enormously and depends mainly on the number of students and support records and the performance of your network.
The system then displays a message box and asks you if you wish to continue with the export.
You now have the option to create the text file OR say 'No' to continue to the data sheet view. The data sheet view enables you to see the columns of data and if required, copy and paste the information into a spreadsheet.
Tip: If the information is for another member of staff or department, such as Information Systems, ask which format is preferred.
Text File export
1.Clicking the yes button displays a standard windows File… Save as, Dialog box which allows you to specify the Folder and File name to be used for the file.
2. Accept the default or specify a new location and click the Save button.
The system will confirm when the file has been exported, and then gives you the option of viewing a data sheet on screen containing the same information (see 'Data Sheet view').

1. You can use the data sheet to copy and paste the information into other programs such as Word or Excel.
